“Having your jewelry appraised by a qualified Gemologist is one of the most important steps you can take if you are purchasing insurance for a cherished keepsake.”
My name is Vern and I am a Graduate Gemologist. After years of study, I have earned the highest degree offered by the Gemological Institute of America. I have worked with Lee Read Jewelers for over 20 years and I am proud of the fact that Lee Read has the only American Gem Society Accredited Gem Laboratory in the state of Idaho. What this means to you is that when I appraise your jewelry, you have a highly educated professional using the latest technology and proper equipment to determine an accurate replacement value of your jewelry.
An inaccurate jewelry appraisal may cost you more than you think.
If the appraiser underestimates the value of your jewelry and it’s lost, the insurance company may not replace what you paid to have insured with the same size or quality.
If the appraiser overvalues your jewelry, you waste money by paying an inflated premium every year to the insurance company and get no additional value if the item needed to be replaced.
Just like Goldilocks, you need an accurate appraisal that is just right. It sounds easy, but without the right training, proper equipment, and extensive contacts in the industry, many jewelry appraisals are just a guess. Anyone can write a jewelry appraisal; it takes a trained expert to provide a legitimate jewelry appraisal that gives you the peace of mind so you can replace your items and not overpay for your insurance.
What Does a Quality Jewelry Appraisal Cost?
The cost of an appraisal from Lee Read is based on the complexity of each item. Simpler items that require less time and research can start at $135. The cost of more intricate pieces is based on the work and time required, and we will always provide a free estimate before you decide to opt for a full appraisal. And we won’t charge you more if we underestimate the time it takes to do it right. In reality, the cost of an appraisal is usually a small fraction of what the piece is worth.
You cherish your jewelry. The meaning behind each and every piece in your jewelry box showcases a memory, holds tradition, or carries sentimental value. While some pieces may be worn daily, other pieces are stored away only to be brought out for special occasions. That delicate antique ring from your mother might cost more to replace than you ever imagined. That intricate diamond pendant could potentially have a significant price attached to it. You know how much your jewelry means to you emotionally. Don’t wait until it is lost and then wish you had its value insured.
To get started, give me a call or text me at 208-376-8800; just ask for Vern, and we will set an appointment for a free consultation to have your keepsakes properly appraised. I look forward to helping you insure your jewelry for the enjoyment of future generations.
